A complex system can be regarded as anything that cannot be represented readily by conventional linear system theory, and encompasses large-scale, significantly non-linear, uncertain and time-varying systems. As such many industrial applications can be considered complex, for example power generation, large chemical processes, automotive internal combustion engines and aircraft flight control.

This joint meeting between the ACTC and an EPSRC supported Novel Computation Cluster, will bring together the leading exponents of new algorithms for the control of complex systems, providing an insight into some of the most difficult problems facing the next generation of control systems.
